OPEN CALL
Ghidul Micului Tipograf
Local Design Awards 2026 opens a call for 15 designers, illustrators and artists from Romania to create a colouring book for children about the typographer — the person behind the press, the printing processes, and the printed object.
The goal is to bring together 15 different perspectives and 15 different visual approaches to a disappearing profession, in a format accessible to children. Each participant creates one illustration or technical drawing in outline format, suitable for colouring — A6 page, analogue or digital. Themes and subjects are decided together with the coordinators on the day of the workshop.
The workshop takes place at Fabrik, 4 October 2026, 10:00–18:00. Participation is free. Each selected participant receives 3 copies of the final colouring book.
Coordinators: Andrei Grosu, Artemisa Pascu, Ana Chiță.
How to apply: fill in the form at localdesignawards.ro by 29 September 2026. Selected participants will be announced on 30 September.
Who can apply: designers, illustrators and artists aged 18 and over, based in Romania.
By participating in this workshop, each participant agrees that the illustrations created during the session become part of the Local Design Awards 2026 project — Ghidul micului tipograf. The works will be used within the project and included in the colouring book, distributed free of charge to the public. All participating artists will be credited in the printed material and in the project's online and offline communications.
The Local Design Awards is a national competition held in Romania, dedicated to celebrating and honoring remarkable achievements in the field of graphic design. Its primary goal is to acknowledge and exhibit the most groundbreaking and imaginative work produced by designers across the country.
